SIX Intern Spotlight: Autumn Shaughnessy | Culture | SIX Marketing

At SIX, one of our favorite core values is Be Human. We believe it's important to show you all sides of marketing, especially the human side. Each month, we'll be interviewing a member of the SIX team about their work, background, interests, and more. 

In this edition of our SIX Spotlight series, get to know our Spring 2024 Junior Analyst, Autumn Shaughnessy.

 

What are your responsibilities? 

"I was responsible for collaborating with analysts and account managers to formulate client-centric ideas and strategies, generating brand-specific ideation, creating customized social media content for clients, and engaging in weekly team meetings to gain a comprehensive grasp of each client's needs and goals."

 

Where do you go to school and what are you studying?

"I graduated from Siena College in May and majored in Management."

 

What are your plans after graduation?

"My plans are to pursue a role in marketing, management, and/or hospitality."

 

What drew you to marketing? 

"The creative and design aspects drew me to marketing."

 

What have you learned during your internship at SIX?

"I was able to learn about a wide variety of marketing basics, as well as how to use InDesign, set up geofences, and how to effectively communicate ideas to colleagues and clients."

 

Which HubSpot certifications did you earn during your internship?

"Introduction to Inbound, Inbound Marketing, and Social Media Marketing."

 

What company did you choose for your marketing plan final project and why?

"I chose Royal Mountain for my final marketing plan. I chose Royal because I have enjoyed skiing there, as well as attending their motocross and supercross events. Royal is a family-run mountain and I saw areas where small changes could make a huge financial impact, and wanted to further explore my ideas."

 

What was your favorite part of your internship?

"My favorite part of my internship was creating social media posts and graphics."

 

What's your favorite SIX core value and why? 

"Do Good: It doesn't cost anything to be a kind human and you never know what others are going through. I try to act in a manner that considers this in my day-to-day life. I also hope to make a positive impact on those around me and my community throughout my life. SIX's core value of "Do Good" encompasses this idea that I try to live by, making it my favorite."

 

What are some of your hobbies and interests? What do you do in your free time?

"I love to go skiing, hiking with my puppy, four-wheeling, boating, and quite literally anything outside!"

 

Do you collect anything?

"No."

 

What's a fun fact about you?

"My puppy Nash is named after Nashville Tennessee, since it's one of my favorite places to visit!"

 

What kind of music do you like? 

"Country and classic rock."

 

What's your favorite TV show(s) to binge-watch? 

"Gilmore Girls."

 

You can tell us your favorite color, but what we really want to know is: what do you think is the most annoying color?

"My favorite color is yellow. The most annoying color is creme/off-white because when it stains, you can't bleach it."

 

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? 

"Teleportation."

 

What's your favorite travel destination you've been to and what's your dream destination?

"My favorite travel destination was Switzerland to ski. My dream destination to visit is Ireland."

 

What emoji do you use the most?

"😂"

 

What's your go-to snack?

"Annie's fruit tape (a fruit roll up, but better)."

 

If you had to pick a favorite word, what would it be and why? 

Laughter, because nothing is better than a good laugh and laughter is the best medicine.

 

What's your favorite quote?

"'Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.' - Dr. Seuss"

 

What's something fun or memorable you've done in the past year? 

"In the past year I got a puppy! He is a black lab named Nash and is 9 months old now."

 

What's your favorite place to eat in Saratoga Springs that you would recommend to visiting clients?

"Hamlet & Ghost."

"Tunnel to Towers Foundation."
