We put the Human in "Be Human"
For those of you who are quite familiar with the world of SIX Marketing, or if this is your first time visiting -- "Be Human" is one of our core values here at SIX. And in an effort to display this, we are pulling back the curtain to introduce you to the humans behind SIX.
Today, we'd like to introduce you to another member of Team SIX -- Heather Frederick!
Who are you? And what is your job at SIX?
When did you start here and how did you get here?
I started at the beginning of this March so I'm currently in my second week. I am a senior at Siena College, so I was on the hunt for an internship. I actually found SIX's blog while researching and came across a post written by your interns about their experience. It seemed like SIX would be a good fit for me, so I applied and was accepted.
What is a day in your life at SIX like? Does it vary? If yes, how so?
My day varies. We have our daily five-minute-meeting where we discuss what we are working on that day and pose any questions or concerns we have. It's a nice way to start the workday. If I am assigned a task I will usually work on that. My tasks for this week were working on some website edits. When I am not working on an assigned task I try to work on my
Hubspot certifications. I have to complete two
Inbound and another of my choosing during my time interning. I really like watching the
certification videos. I think it's fun to watch and learn at the same time.
What are your hobbies?
I am a theatre nerd. I love to act in plays, especially Shakespeare, and I also love musicals as well. I have not been able to be a part of a production for some time due to the pandemic, so I really miss it. I am also really into
K-Pop (Korean pop music), especially the group
BTS. I love listening to their music and watching their performances.
What is something when you tell someone they are shocked to know about you?
I am an introvert. When I am out with friends or around people I have become comfortable with I am pretty bubbly and outgoing. But it does tucker me out, and I need time to myself to recharge. People are always surprised to find out that I am introverted.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I really like the creative aspect of this job. I love being creative and so I like doing work that lets me express that. All of the tasks I've been assigned so far have been enjoyable to do and rewarding at the same time. I also really like that I am learning new things and applying what I have learned in my classes to actual real-life experiences. Seeing this growth has been very rewarding for me as well.
What is your greatest challenge at your job?
I think the biggest challenge is balancing my work at SIX and my school work.
Why is this a challenge and what do you do to overcome it?
I'm used to just focusing on my studies. It's easier to just worry about my four courses every semester, but add on another element and it can be hard to juggle it all. I try to combat this by making a schedule for every week and blocking out certain times in the day that are reserved for just school work and just SIX assignments. So far it is helping me a lot.
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I could listen to BTS's entire discography for the rest of my life. All of their albums are just so good that it is really difficult to choose. So I would say, I can listen to BTS my whole life, but if I really really had to choose an album, I would say
BE.
What is the last show you binge-watched?
The Queen's Gambit. I never thought I would care so much about chess.
